It’s getting hot in herre.
Even though I live in the only part of California that’s not presently burning down, it’s hot as hell here right now (10 pm), and I had ashes all over my car when I left my office this afternoon. And my throat felt like I smoked half a pack of Marlboro reds after I walked my office mail to the post office (which is only about a tenth of a mile, if even that).
This is what it looks like where I work.
It’s depressing. It’s depressing to think of all that smoke, and where it’s coming from. It’s depressing to think of people losing their homes, their possessions, and sometimes, their lives. It’s depressing to see packs of horses running wildly for safety. It’s depressing to see acres and acres of land burning. The most depressing of all is that this all could have been started by a person.
Every time I hear a siren, I panic thinking that Palos Verdes is going to be on fire next, which is just a few miles from me, not to mention the place where many of my co-workers live.
What is NOT depressing - and is, in fact, nearly infuriating - is the goddamned non-stop coverage on EVERY MOTHERFUCKING CHANNEL every minute of every day. As with all emergencies, I think that there should only be one channel allowed to do continuous coverage. Then my TV’s not fucked up, and there’s WAY LESS chance for all of the misinformation that these dopey news anchors give out when they’re not reading a teleprompter and actually have to think for themselves and improvise.

Look. I don’t care how many pictures you post of Jake and Reese holding hands, that’s not going to convince me he’s straight. Nice try.
Speaking of homos, I don’t see what the point of JK Rowling announcing Dumbledore was gay has to do with anything. It didn’t impact the books in any way, and it seems like it will just give the christian wackos more ammo against the books. Not only do they promote witchcraft and paganism, but now they promote homosexuality, which surely means pedophilia. Save the children!
Though I did find this funny.

She couldn’t have told us Dumbledore was gay before I wrote all that Violet/Dumbledore fan fiction? It’s like my whole life is a lie.
And, ay-men to all that re: the fire and the coverage.

I can’t see the picture of what it looks like from work, but that’s a great People cover.
I love Facebook. I use it like a fisher price busy board.

…I’m not saying that I’ve, cough, read any Harry Potter fan fiction, or anything. But in some of that, the speculation was that Sirius and Lupin were hot for each other….
And with all of JKR’s political correctness (as far as a variety of races, ages, shapes, sizes, and genders), it figures that there’s gotta be a gay one in there someplace.

Most of my family is in the El Cajon/Ramona areas of San Diego, which is also burning to the ground apparently. I agree with you on the Dumbledore thing, him being butt pirate didn’t impact the storyline either way. Someone just wants attention, methinks.
