External Hard Drive Not Recognized Anymore


I have tried some solutions shown here, but they will not dhow up in device manager. The only way you can really tell if the problem is with the computer or the hard drive at this point is to connect the drive to another computer. EVERYTHING is on here!!! but some say then the pc will not ever recognise it again and i can use it only with the tv. http://yeahimadork.com/external-hard/external-hard-drive-not-recognized.php

I though my HDD was corrputed, but this helped fixed it. What a cr4p article. kindly advise thank you muthu. the reason why you can't even perform a CHKDSK on this drive is because the current usb hookup you have in the device can't even do that/allow that.. Please can you help? My hard drive works on other computers and has worked on my laptop in the past but has done this a few times. They show in Control Panel/System they also show in Disk Management but when I try to change Drive Letter I get the following error - "The operation failed to complete because It's nice to know I am not the only one with this issue.

I'm using Win 10. It actually shows up, albeit with a delay of a minute or more. Next, open the Disk Management tool. Wd Hard Drive Light On But Not Recognized Now, it won't run, and Disk Utility says that the Partition Type is Microsoft Reserved.
