I came across the same issue again though, but this time Malwarebytes opens. I just went to a recent registry entry that I saved and double clicked on it and it added some stuff to the registry.
The Chrome team keeps dropping the ball on updates by releasing poorly tested builds and it's such a shame since Chrome, at its core, is a great browser...
